If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. I’d believe that. It’s a beautiful two way street: if I do something right, I have no one to praise but myself. If I drop the ball, I have no one to blame but myself.
But there comes a time when we need to look elsewhere for help. This is usually when we feel someone might loan some expertise to a situation or the workload is just too great. I find myself in the latter category at the moment.
I’ve been hunting for that beautiful freelance/part time employee for a few weeks now – it’s like looking for a needle in a hay stack. I’ve gone through multiple interview processes before; looking for actors, photographers and videographers. I’ve been burned in the past, and I’ve also been singed too. I haven’t tasted that sweet, sweet victory yet in the form of a shooter whose attributes and characteristics mimic my own.
Has anyone else gone through the process of ‘hiring’ or ‘recruiting’ help for an on-going role? I’m flying by the seat of my pants and going on gut instinct with some of these people. The first thing I look for is character and the second is skill. It used to be the other way around. Then I discovered there are some really tainted people with tunnel vision in this business. I try to steer clear from those. But people with great character are more willing to learn and addapt than those who are stuck with their ways (and prices!)
I’m looking for some wisdom. I can get my name and opportunities out to the publics that I need, I just need to fine tune my message. How can I effectively “read” people in one hour when I meet them for the first time? I suppose a chance has to be taken regardless of who I end up choosing.
Xero Digital, who took me under their wing, took a chance with me with my first wedding. Now I’m their top shooter
That’s why I need another “me”.
