The mellow folk singer Jack Johnson said “It’s always better when we’re together”. And I agree.
I recently finished the book “The Tipping Point” by Malcolm Gladwell. He gave a solid breakdown about how epidemics start. They all start with a tipping point – something very small that triggers something very large. It has to be something strategically placed and well timed of course. Right now, I’m trying to “tip” Empty Cup.
The “Law of the Few” is a factor that leads to something tipping. Mavens (people who know lots about lots of different things), Connectors (people who know a lot of different people) and Salesmen (people who can convince people of new things) all contribute to an idea tipping. I’m focusing my efforts on becoming a connector. I like meeting people and hearing their stories. I’m slowly building my Excel spreadsheet of everyone I’ve ever met and in what context (which I recommend for everyone to do). A list of “resources” I call it.
I’m currently looking for an employee. Either a freelance photographer and/or videographer. What would be BEST is if I could find a Maven or a Salesman to help me tip the business. That’s a difficult thing to find. But I’m certainly trying. He or she could come in the form of a shooter, a writer, a mentor, a communicator or just a good friend. Unfortunately, Mavens and Salesmen don’t walk around with stamps on their foreheads.
To tip, Empty Cup needs to cover more ground – while standing out for excellence at the same time. That comes with more hands. Not just any hands – skilled hands. Experienced hands that come with a strong and confident voice.
So step back and ask yourself some questions. Do I know a LOT about a lot of different things? Am I persuasive by nature – not for the sake of manipulation, but for the genuine sake of helping others? If you answered an honest yes to either one – I would love to hear from you: colin@emptycupmedia.ca
May your voice be the snow on a tree branch that triggers the avalanche.
